It’s very common for two strong people to unconsciously fight to be the leader in a relationship. This can cause lots of arguments and hurt feelings. It happens for a few reasons this happens:
My Way or the Highway
Usuall,y one or both partners believe their way is going to yield better results or they have lost faith in their partner’s ability to lead them.
The thing is you both bring value to the life you are creating. This is a sign you need to both consciously create the reality you want. You are responding to what was instead of what can be. Change your perspective and get clear on the outcome you both want. Once you are clear, sit down and make a list of your strengths and weaknesses. See where your strengths fill in for your partners weaknesses and vice versa. .
Our Way is the Highway
Now create a plan that utilizes your strengths and brainstorm ways to improve your weaknesses.
See the value in each other and how you can work together. Communicate that you see each other and respect each other’s abilities. After all you are like a spoon and a fork, both are important and used differently. Working together will bond you and create more connection. You chose each other because subconsciously you knew you could make each other better, allow that to happen by being open to learning from each other instead of fighting for control. Remember teamwork makes the dream work and you are on the same team!
- Change your perspective and get clear on the outcome you both want.
- Once you are clear, sit down and make a list of your strengths and weaknesses.
- See where your strengths fill in for your partners weaknesses and vice versa.
